Overview

There are many ‘ooru’ s (cities) with Bengaluru city. These hidden gems have their own histories and stories to tell. Once such is Begur (or Beguru) that not only speaks of a culture from a thousand years ago but also holds a key to the dating of Bengaluru’s timeline in its vast thousand year old Nageshvara temple complex which this tour will explore.

A beautiful temple is more than just its looks. It is based on philosophy, symbolism and is not just a place to pray but acts as a cultural and administrative centre of the area around it. Kings and the elite would build or renovate temples for both political and social reasons & it was looked upon as a noble cause.

This walk takes you on a journey to thousand years back and tells you the story of Beguru through its most famous temple, its colourful memorial stones and a few other old ruins hidden in plain sight.
Enjoy the hidden histories of the metropolitan Bengaluru - from steel swords, battles to silicon valley.
