Unhurried's Medieval Bangalore Trail is a heritage enthusiast's dream. It is one of the popular requests at Unhurried: a tour that unites all of medieval Bangalore, the dilapidated remains of Bangalore fort that stands as a testimony to its war history, the summer palace of Tipu Sultan, the ancient south Indian temple patronized by Hindu kings and Sultans alike.
Explore the remains of the Bengaluru fort while we paint you an enigmatic picture of what the place once was. In this trail you will take a leisurely walk down the Avenue Road and its various meandering lanes. It was once the old city of Bengaluru that was founded in 16th century and boasted of a medieval fort with a moat surrounding it. The city housed well defined markets, homes and was abuzz with trade . One and a half centuries later, a smaller military fort came up. The Bengaluru city became an important city under Mysore rulers -Haider Ali and Tipu Sultan. Standing as a testimony to this is the Tipu Sultan Summer Palace.
Today, the old city of Bangalore, with its winding lanes off Avenue Road, sells various things from silk to plastic bottles. In the century old city market one can see on display— ironware, flowers, fruits, banana leaves, spices, etc. The colorful flower market with mounds of orange marigolds, yellow sevanthige, red roses, white jasmines, stringed and un-stringed is a sight for sore eyes. In this old market area stands the Bengaluru fort gate and the Summer Palace as a testimony to the city's history.
